Hall, Sam Houston StateHall continued to make a statement for the Jerry Rice Award as FCS top freshman with two sacks, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a vital blocked field goal in Sam Houston State’s 38-31 win over Central Arkansas to give the Bearkats their third conference title in four years. The freshman from Seguin, Texas (Seguin H.S.), had four total tackles in the contest. FRISCO, Texas – Sam Houston State senior running back Keshawn Hill was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Sam Houston freshman defensive end P.J. Hall earned defensive player of the week award while Stephen F. Austin senior kicker Jordan Wiggs was named the special teams player of the week.center_img Special Teams Player of the Week: Jordan Wiggs, Stephen F. AustinWiggs closed out his Stephen F. Austin career with a season-long 41-yard field goal as time expired to give Stephen F. Austin a 27-24 win over Northwestern State and give the Lumberjacks an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs. The senior from Grand Prairie, Texas (South Grand Prairie H.S.), also connected on a 20-yard kick earlier in the game and went a perfect 3-for-3 in PATs against the Demons. Offensive Player of the Week:  Keshawn Hill, Sam Houston StateHill posted the seventh-highest single game rushing total in Sam Houston State history to help lead the Bearkats to their third Southland Conference title in four years. The senior from Klein, Texas (Klein H.S.) rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries in the Bearkats’ 38-31 win over Central Arkansas. Hill scored on runs of 13 and 15 yards and set up another touchdown with a 61-yard run, his sixth 50+ yard run of the season. Hill now ranks second in school history in career touchdowns (40), third in rushing touchdown (34) and fourth in scoring (240 points). Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his own player.
